Target Goals:
- All Students will improve writing skills across the curriculum.
We define writing skills as the ability to clearly commincate ideas by effectively using organization and writing conventions.
- All students will improve math skills across the curriculum.
We deince math skills as the ability so solve problems using appropriate stragtegies and justify solutions using representations and appropriate vocabulary.
Interventions:
- Instructional Intervention Goal 1:
All students in grades K – 5 will learn to organize their writing and use writing conventions by learning and employing a variety of specific writing strategies throughout the curriculum.
- Instructional Intervention Goal 2:
All students in grades K – 5 will learn mathematics through a problem-solving model of instruction. They will learn to solve mathematical problems using appropriate strategies and to justify their solutions using representations and appropriate vocabulary by learning to use a systematic approach to problem solving and practicing mathematical problem solving throughout the curriculum.
- Communication Intervention
SDES will communicate the School Improvement Process and the progress of students towards achieving our writing goal to students, staff, parents and community through a variety of means on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- SHC Partnership Intervention
SDES will increase meaningful involvement of our partners in the implementation of our writing goal by co-sponsoring with our parent and community partners a variety of events throughout the school year that reinforce our writing goal.
- Technology Intervention:
SDES will put in place a variety of technical initiatives that will facilitate writing to include use of Smartboard technology, COWs, and a variety software programs.
